Osteoporosis




It is caused by the loss of the mineral Calcium in bones and this implies a weakening or deficiency thereof. It is more common in women than in men.
 
Modern diets and habits favor the appearance of this disease. By the former which often do not include the daily  1,500 mg Calcium needed. The
latter is the habit of favoring a type of very sedentary life.
 
Thus, while some foods recommended by some plants also strongly recommend movement and exercise daily.

 




Gravity is our ally with respect to the increase of the density of our bones.
 
 
Some types of exercise slow and deliberate as Tai Chi Chuan are recommended.
Like Tai Chi, hiking also are suitable for all ages and all people.

Foods of plants that contain more Calcium are:

Broccoli, Tofu, Collard, Portuguese Kale, Watercress and Spinach, Asparagus, Nuts and all seeds and sprouts.

Portuguese Kale or Galega Kale

As the absorption of calcium interferes with the absorption of iron and vice versa, these two should be separated by meals.

For example:
 
At Breakfast

if you eat dairy at breakfast, these are to be eaten at the same meal: the low fat yoghurt, cereal, orange juice, nuts, dried fruits, and avocados.
 



At lunch
 
 you may eat broccoli, cabbage soup and fish.

At Dinner

you may eat beetroot and watercress salad with mussels that contain more iron than calcium, seasoned with a few drops of lemon.
Vitamin C present in lemon and orange helps absorption of iron and calcium, and must be consumed together.

Other plants that are friends of our bones:



The Currant, Ribes nigrum L., it has pulpy dark-blue berries.  One can use the fruit, the leaves or the buds.

 

Acts on microcirculation and improves night vision. It is appropriate to cure Rheumatism, Gout, and circulatory problems.


Recipe:
Make an infusion of leaves and blackcurrant: drink a cup in the morning for three weeks, repeating this healing cure every three months.



 

The Queen of Meadows is Filipendula ulmária.  

It is a flower common throughout Europe.
Its flowers are used to treat rheumatism but also as anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and diuretic. Has an effect depurative on the body, relieving pain, somewhat like aspirin.

  

Recipe:Pour four tablespoons of flowers in one liter of boiling water. You should drink this amount of tea daily.



 

Cabbage Brassica oleracea, contains boro and this raises the level of estrogen in the blood which in turn protects the bone.A good recipe is to combine shredded cabbage with beans as a salad.


The Dandelion, Taraxacum officinale,
is number two, following the cabbage in levels of boro.




 
 

 

10 gr. of dandelions have also 200 mg. Calcium. Also contains Silicon (Si) which strengthens bones.
 
Incidentally, while we're at Silicon, recommended is the consumption of natural waters with Silicon.

Amaranthus or amaranth, Amaranthus, in various species.
 
                                                         
 

10gr cooked leaves have 500mg of Calcium.
 
 
Plants in order of decreasing level of Calcium:
 
On the podium we have
Beans, 
Watercress,
Licorice,
Marjoram as savory,
Red Clove Buds,
Thymol-Chinese Cabbage,
Basil,
Celery seed,
Dandelion and
Purslane.


Soybeans and other beans by having phyto estrogen protect bones without contraindications unlike the corresponding pharmaceutical composition.

 

Pimenteira, Piper nigrum (Black Pepper), contains four compounds anti osteoporosis.
                                                     
 

Warning:
it is preferable to have the peppercorns ground and grind at the time when using for salads, soup and beans or avocado.
                                    
 
 
Horsetail, Equisetum arvense, has high levels of Silicon (Si) and is suitable for therapy in the treatment of bone fractures. 

                              
 
Recipe for Horsetail Tea:

Add a teaspoon of sugar to the water, along with the dried herb.
The sugar absorb more silicon of the plant.

Boil and then simmer for three hours (honestly think a little too much, I've used with good results in boiling 15 minutes maximum).
Strain the leaves and then let the tea cool before drinking it.

The Parsley, Petroselinum crispum, is rich in boro. Just need 84gr. parsley to provide the necessary 3mg to raise estrogen levels. It also contains fluorine which is another compound that enhances bone.

Purify your breath while saves the bones, adopting the habit of eating the parsley garnish or flavoring main dishes.
 


 

Recipe for a rich Calcium Soup :

-Shredded Cabbage
-Raw Dandelion
-Parsley
-Dill
-Purslane
-Chopped carrot
-Beans
-Garlic and Onions

 
 
You can start a quick sauté with onion and garlic. Then join the hot water and the rest of the vegetables and cook all, seasoned to taste.Serve with slices of Avocado sprinkled with Black Pepper as dessert .

Green Tips:

Garlic for being an anti-inflammatory drug should not be overlooked in the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism and gout that are sequences of osteoporosis.
